[Edit]How to Be Likable

Take a moment to think about your best friend. What do you love most about them? Will they drop everything to help you? Do they always answer your calls? Do they send you silly memes when you’re having a bad day? If so, these are all things that make them likable! A likable person is someone who’s charismatic, approachable, and kind. There’s something about them that makes you trust them. They never go back on their word and are always there to make you laugh.

So, how can you be like them? How can you be more likable? Follow the tips below, and we bet you’ll gain a friend or two:

  • Be a good listener. Actively listen when someone talks to you. Avoid talking over them and engage in what they have to say with nods and follow-up questions.
  • Have an open mind. Not everybody has the same opinions, and that’s okay! Be open to hearing more than one side of a story. After all, you may learn something new.
  • Be genuine. If you compliment someone, mean it wholeheartedly.
  • Avoid being competitive. A little friendly competition is okay every now and then, but always trying to one-up someone can be excessive. Celebrate your wins and accept your losses to show modesty and control.
  • Be empathetic. Show an interest in someone else’s life. Everyone’s on a different journey, and it’s okay if someone is 2 steps behind or ahead of you.
  • Stay true to yourself. Avoid trying to be something you’re not. At the end of the day, being yourself is enough.
